Testing a new Website Site Monitoring Tool called Montastic

I had the unfortunate situation of waking up this morning and finding out that my FlavortownUSA website had been down for 15 hours. I had signed up for Pingdom to send me an email when this happens so I was very frustrated to not receive one. I am using their free account so when I found that out, it was all my fault for not reading and upgrading.

When I was logged into Pingdom it wasn’t very easy on the eyes, was difficult to determine what I got exactly for my free account and what I didn’t. I did determine that my account was up in terms of receiving email about my site being down so I decided to find another service. One that was simple, easy and fast so I could get it going quickly.

I found Montastic during one of my searches and so far it’s been a joy and here’s why:

  1. Extremely fast to get setup
  2. Easy on the eyes to understand what it does and what I’m getting
  3. Showed me that the free package checks my site every 30 minutes
  4. If i wanted to upgrade, the dropdown showed me that a 5 minute check would need to be upgraded
  5. Not a lot of fluff, no fancy designs to get in the way of what I want
  6. Just the facts look and feel, gives me what I want in a straight forward manner

I’m so far quite pleased but it’s only been a short time using it so I will let you know and keep you in the loop about how I proceed with this tool.
